The latches are smooth and secure. It’s all plastic but built solid. No rough edges, and everything fits together really well well. I’ll get a bigger one later once I get more gear.

This is my First Pelican case and I have to say that I’m not disappointed. Its durable tough and it even floats although this is a carry on for air travel its still perfect for packing your clothes and valuables. I would say though if you wanna pack more clothes and essentials I’d say invest in a Pelican 1615 air travel case its a lot bigger and can hold more. Aside from that the only negatives I got is the price but if you want your stuff protected you gotta pay for it plus with its lifetime guarantee you can’t go wrong with this case.

Excellent price and very fast shipping from ColorCase. Could not be happier. The case is used for general carry-on air travel. Of course I would love it if it were able to be larger, but it meets airline requirements and makes efficient use of its size. The simple design doesn't waste any of its precious volume with things I don't need and works perfectly with my packing style. It is obviously a very durable item. The only slight negative I would have is that the main handle is stiff and a little hard to deploy. On the plus side, this keeps it from flopping around when you are not using it so it is a very small price to pay.

I have a few Pelican products and they never seem to disappoint. The 1535 case has great quality and is durable. The new easy push latches are easy enough to use that my four year old can do it himself. Thank you Pelican for finally introducing this style of latch. I am happy with my purchase and will continue to use Pelican products in the future.

I choose the Pelican Air 1535 with out foam for several reasons. One it’s hard to beat the lifetime warranty and how easy it is to get replacement parts should you need it or just want to customize your case so it’s easier to find in a sea of black cases at the airport. The colored handles and latches makes it easy to spot my case when I’m traveling with other crew members with similar cases. I specifically wanted this size so it can fit in an overhead bin on most airlines. However if the bins are full I feel confident it will be ok in the cargo hold. On some overseas airlines the weight allowance of overhead bins is much less than US planes. Every ounce counts when carrying vital tools of your trade and that’s another area where the Air 1535 shines. Sure there are several cheaper options out there, but if you’re job suffers because your baggage got lost or delayed, no one wants to hear how you saved money buying a cheaper, heavier case that had to be checked, but didn’t make it to your destination, or was constantly delayed because you have to keep switching modes of transportation. By the way, you can stand the case vertically and sit on it. If you extend the handle you can use it as a backrest. Use a coat as a pad and you have a decent chair in a pinch.
